Maintenance Manager
The City of Kodiak is recruiting for a full-time **Maintenance Manager**
in the Public Works Department. The Department is looking for an experienced team player that has a desire to be a part of a progressive Public Works Department working hard to serve the needs of our community.
Under general direction and supervision of the Public Works Director, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the daily operations of Public Works maintenance staff. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; managing water distribution and sewer collection systems, coordinating street and drainage system maintenance, overseeing the vehicle maintenance garage; participating in developing and monitoring the budget for area of responsibility; ensure operational and maintenance activities are in compliance; developing and implementing safety and security procedures.
The City of Kodiak owns and operates many facilities including, but not limited to streets, water and sewer systems, parking lots, sidewalks, stairways, and facilities and buildings. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the efficient delivery of the high-quality maintenance and services required by the City. The Maintenance Manager must perform these duties in a manner that reflects positively on the City and the public works department and is responsible for maintaining a level of professional expertise and image that promotes efficient use of the resources available to the department.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) andAssociate’s degree or two-year technical certificate in construction management, public administration, or related field; five years journey level equipment operator, and seven to ten years of progressively responsible maintenance, utility or trades experience, including two years of supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements
- Valid Alaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B or higher or ability to obtain within six months
- Valid Alaska Drivers License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Traffic Control Flagging
- Forklift Operator Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
Licensing Preferred State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Operator certifications in: Water Distribution (WD) and Wastewater Collection (WWC)
