Systems Engineer 4

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Description: Our client is currently seeking a Systems Engineer 4 to support a high-impact missile defense program in either Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO. This role focuses on developing, analyzing, and integrating system capabilities for the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). You’ll work alongside industry partners to assess and optimize missile defense system performance, support integration and testing activities, and contribute to advanced modeling and simulation development.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development and execution of assessment programs for the C2BMC component of the BMDS
• Evaluate system architectures and mission performance under various operational scenarios
• Perform systems-of-systems analysis and trade studies to optimize overall system design
• Develop and maintain high-fidelity modeling and simulation tools to assess system behavior against evolving threats
• Draft and manage system requirements, architecture documentation, and test plans using MBSE tools such as Cameo, DOORS, or System Architect
• Support integration and checkout activities, ensuring requirements are met before advancing to the next phase
• Collaborate with test and integration subject matter experts to define technical approaches and analyze outcomes
• Apply Agile and iterative development processes to support system engineering tasks and product evolution
• Assist in developing training materials and user documentation
• Use tools such as MATLAB, Python, or Java for numerical modeling and simulation development
• Support the verification and validation of system capabilities and requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
• Current U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in systems engineering, including requirements, design, architecture, integration, or test
• Strong analytical, collaboration, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4 years of systems engineering experience, particularly within the defense or aerospace sector
• Ability to obtain or currently hold a Top Secret Clearance
• Familiarity with missile defense systems, architectures, and performance analysis methods
• Experience with automated test development or scripting (Python, MATLAB, Java, etc.)
• Prior work with DoD, MDA, or similar mission-critical systems
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies and iterative engineering practices
• Experience in modeling or simulating defense systems (e.g., missile intercepts, air defense, or space vehicles)
• Proficiency in developing capability assessments and technical performance measures
