THE STARTING SALARY FOR THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO $40,000 – $66,120. Salary offers for the selected candidate are based on the candidate’s education and experience related to the position, as well as our agency budget and equity.

This position will

  • Answer and analyzing incoming calls, forwarding to the appropriate personnel or if able, assisting the customer.
  • Checking voicemails and emails throughout the day and forwarding to the appropriate personnel or if able, assisting the customer.
  • Receiving and sorting mail and packages then logging the information for tracking purposes.
  • Submit building maintenance requests and track to completion.
  • Use and maintain, including scheduling repairs, for scanners, copiers, and postal & fax machines.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers monthly to ensure they remain in compliance.
  • Track and maintain office inventory and supplies, including unique equipment/supplies requests.
  • Manage and update conference room and training calendars.
  • Assist in scheduling interviews and appointments for leadership.
  • Maintain the Motor Fleet Management (MFM) vehicles, including mileage logs, repair logs, normal maintenance, annual tag renewal, and maintain the spreadsheet and documents of approved drivers.
  • Responsible for scanning, filing, and document retention.

Division Information

The Medicaid Investigations Division (MID) of the North Carolina Department of Justice, which is the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) for the State of North Carolina. Medicaid is the nation’s public health insurance program for people with low income. This taxpayer funded program provides critical health coverage for nearly one in five people in North Carolina, and approximately 40% of children in North Carolina are covered by Medicaid. To date, the MID has recovered more than $1 billion in restitution and penalties for North Carolina.Â

MID investigates and prosecutes health care fraud committed by Medicaid providers and the physical abuse of patients and embezzlement of patient funds in Medicaid-funded facilities. MID works closely with district attorneys’ offices, US Attorneys’ offices, federal, state and local agencies across the State. The damages in a Medicaid fraud case can range from a few thousand dollars to tens of millions of dollars. MID’s enforcement actions protect and recover taxpayer funds and help ensure access to needed medical services for Medicaid enrollees.Â

MID is staffed by Department of Justice attorneys, investigators, auditors, analysts, a nurse investigator, paralegals, and administrative staff. Cases are pursued in both federal and state courts in partnership with law enforcement agents from federal and state agencies such the Office of Inspector General, FBI, IRS, the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Sheriffs’ Offices, and Police Departments.Â

Department Information

The North Carolina Department of Justice, led by the Attorney General of North Carolina, represents the state, state agencies, and elected officials, and defends the rights of the people of North Carolina. The Department handles all state criminal appeals cases and assists district attorneys with complex criminal cases at their request. Additionally, the Department of Justice includes the North Carolina State Crime Lab, the North Carolina Justice Academy, and the Sheriffs’ and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Divisions.Â

Management Preferences

  • Experience answering a multi-line phone and direct calls.
  • Experience setting up appointments for others.

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Credit for foreign degrees will only be given if verification of degree certification is attached to your application. Â Transcripts for foreign degrees have to be evaluated by an organization like World Education Services to determine US equivalency.

Applicants seeking Veteran’s Preference must attach a copy of their DD-214 or discharge orders.

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS) if you are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing. Â If you are a former member of the NC National Guard who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions, you must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22.
