Must have:

I require a Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, you should have seven or more years of hands-on experience in data governance, data management, or similar roles. Proven success in leading change management initiatives, especially in promoting organizational adoption of new processes or frameworks, is essential. You should demonstrate measurable achievements in establishing data governance frameworks and executing data governance programs. Team leadership experience, both formal and informal, as well as familiarity with associate employee relations responsibilities are necessary. Experience with implementing technology solutions is also important. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders at all levels of the organization, are critical. A solid understanding of business data definitions and use cases, and how data governance can enhance business team productivity and outcomes is expected. You must possess an analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities to tackle complex data and organizational issues. Familiarity with analytical architecture and platforms that transform, store, and report on analytical data will be advantageous. Nice to have certifications include the Data Governance Professional credential or the Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), and a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or relevant fields.

Responsibilities:


As a Data Governance Senior Manager, I will expect you to lead the cultural and organizational transformation necessary to implement solid data governance practices across Genworth. Your main focus will be to drive the vision, strategy, and execution of a comprehensive data governance program. This entails establishing clear frameworks and standards that align with Genworth’s business objectives, regulatory requirements, and ethical obligations. You will form and lead a dynamic team of data stewards while fostering strong relationships with data owners and key business leaders. By instilling a culture of accountability, transparency, and stewardship, you will enable business units to take charge of their data assets and ensure the consistent application of governance policies. Your leadership will be crucial in shaping the organizational approach to quality, compliance, and responsible data management. This will ensure that data is regarded as a vital asset at every level of the business, establishing Genworth as a Center of Excellence (CoE) in data-driven decision-making and trusted information management. You will refine and progress the organization’s strategic vision and roadmap for data governance. This includes developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance program, focusing on the creation of a unified version of truth data, addressing data quality, compliance, and privacy standards. You will lead change management efforts to enhance the adoption of data governance policies and practices across business units. It will be essential to develop training programs, communication plans, and engagement strategies that cultivate a culture of data stewardship within business teams. Building robust relationships with business leaders and key stakeholders will be crucial to drive commitment and support for data governance initiatives. As a trusted advisor, you will help teams recognize the significance of data governance and collaborate with IT or business teams to develop highly useful governed data. Furthermore, you will oversee a data stewardship program to empower business units in managing their data assets and ensuring accountability to governance practices. Your responsibilities will also include managing the expanding data governance team, setting clear objectives, providing strategic direction, and fostering a collaborative work environment. You will perform HR functions including coaching, performance management, and development, while ensuring your team is equipped to implement governance standards and invigorate continuous improvements in data quality and governance throughout the organization. Identifying and implementing necessary data governance system features and platforms, enhancing and maintaining existing data governance policies, standards, and best practices is expected. You will oversee the creation and refinement of data dictionaries, data lineage documentation, data quality rules, and stewardship roles while expanding processes for monitoring and improving data quality across systems. Compliance with industry regulations and internal policies will be a priority, which includes managing audits and risk assessments as necessary. Finally, you will define and track key performance indicators for data governance initiatives, communicating progress and impact to senior leadership, showcasing successes and areas for enhancement.

The base salary pay range for this position starts from a minimum of $102,700 to a maximum of $202,400. Additionally, you will be eligible to partake in an incentive plan, with target earning potential at 15% of your base compensation, contingent on performance. Final determination on base pay will consider multiple factors at the time of this job posting, ensuring pay equity within the organization.
