Akkodis is seeking a Lead for a contract with a client inSan Francisco, CA. Candidates must have hands-on experience developing GIS applications using Python and managing scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Rate Range: $45/hour to 60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Lead job responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design and deployment of GIS applications and tools using Python, ensuring robust functionality across web-mapping, data pipelines, and automation workflows.
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure development and management on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, utilizing services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and EKS.
  • Guide spatial data handling and storage strategies, working with vector/raster formats and enterprise geodatabases like PostgreSQL/PostGIS and Oracle.
  • Drive automation of GIS workflows using Python libraries such as GDAL, GeoPandas, and ArcPy, enabling advanced spatial analysis and data processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs and ensure scalable, efficient architecture.
  • Mentor junior developers and ensure adherence to best practices in geospatial development, cloud infrastructure, and data governance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years in geospatial application development and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying GIS applications using Python and automating spatial workflows with libraries like GDAL, GeoPandas, and ArcPy.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in managing scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including services like EC2, S3, Lambda, and EKS.

Pay Details: $45.00 to $60.00 per hour
