Job Description This position supports the mission and work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization. Under the direction of the Vice President of Health Strategies, the Association Director of Wellness Programming is entrusted with the comprehensive design, implementation, scheduling, promotion, marketing, evaluation, and facilitation of wellness programs for members and the broader community within the region. Beyond program management, this position must demonstrate strong skills in the areas of influence, supervision, administration, maintaining collaborative relationships, and effective fiscal management. The position will assist the Y in its goal to strengthen our community and promote positive changes in the area of health and wellness. The Senior Association Director, Wellness Programming will be a key leader in developing best practices, implementing and scaling personal training, small group training programs, specialty wellness programming, and wellness incentive programming for our members. It will also be the leader in driving innovative wellness events, innovation wellness technology and overall quality of group exercise with the support of the CSGO. This individual will help to strengthen member involvement through the delivery of high-quality mission and market driven programs and corresponding fiscal stability. Considerable travel throughout the YMCA of Greater Brandywine service area is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and successful leadership experience with supporting/guiding teams to achieve set performance goals across multi sites
  • Possess interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of core principles and best practices within healthy living programming and design.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and manage organizational strategies and actions to full execution.
  • Proven ability to resolve ambiguous problems and improvise solutions.
  • Demonstrated work experience working with both child and adult populations in diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting solid customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to: form appropriate assessment-based relationships; exemplify excellent leadership qualities in managing associates tactfully; relate well in multicultural environments; maintain confidentiality throughout daily operations; maintain good communication skills and multitask efficiently; manage competing priorities and deadline; use time effectively; and focus on details.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect meaningful data and draw solid conclusions and skills in compiling and producing written reports.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • HIPAA Compliance certification required.
  • Previous experience with YMCA Health and Wellness programs required.
  • Knowledge of YMCA EBHI Healthy Living Programs preferred.
  • Budgeting experience required
  • Able to travel throughout the YMCA of Greater Brandywine service area is required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed (position is Hybrid).

Essential Functions

  • Develops and maintains positive and collaborative relationships with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, members and with local community organizations.
  • Compiles program statistics and provides data and reports as required for assigned programs in wellness programming
  • Support data entry, program delivery, and the development of program implementation plans to scale our wellness programs and services including wellness incentive, wellness community events, innovative wellness, personal training and small group training programs.
  • Work with the AVP of Membership on developing and implementing the Corporate Wellness model; focusing on developing employee wellness programming and initiatives that coincide with Corporate Membership Model.
  • Bridge the gap between the branch H&W small group programming; working on consistency in program design and implementation.
  • Lead and manage wellness technology platforms (Upace, Y360, etc.)
  • Develop partnerships within the community with whom the YMCA can collaborate with on special wellness events.
  • Collaborate with community partners on financial support of community and branch special events.
  • Organize community engagement events, such as women’s/men’s wellness weekends, CEU/CE events, and other healthy living events, creating additional revenue streams for the department and organization.
  • Create new innovative association wide wellness events within branches and in the community.
  • Develop, deliver, and scale consistent delivery methods association wide for small group wellness programming to increase program revenue. (i.e., TRX, Myzone Classes, etc.)
  • Assist in wellness branch development as it relates to the Quality Check document. Work with HWD’s to prepare and develop skills and program areas to ensure a positive Quality Check outcome. Utilize CHARGE as part of HUSK to create new and innovative programming around nutrition and education for branches.
  • Drive greater participation in Wellness groups (small groups, large groups and special-interest groups), programs/services (i.e. personal training, Group Exercise, etc.) and promotions to help facilitate welcoming more new members to the Y family and deepen their engagement in the Y experience.
