Ground System Operations Engineer

Requirements

Must have:

– A minimum of 5 years of experience in satellite communications ground systems and operations – At least 3 years of experience in the design and commissioning of radio/mobile telecommunications/RAN installations or SATCOM earth stations – A minimum of 3 years of experience in automation through Perl/Python scripting and programming – At least 2 years of network integration experience, including troubleshooting and on-site support – Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand the larger context of issues – Proficient in writing and reviewing accurate support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries – Bachelor’s Degree in RF, Aerospace, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate the health and performance of ground terminals distributed globally – Identify and resolve antenna faults, warnings, and anomalies – Maintain and update antenna calibrations as necessary – Execute software updates and upgrades to antenna components – Design system testing and verification processes, documenting mechanisms at scale – Manage interactions with partners to ensure compliance with project timelines and technical requirements – Collaborate with stakeholder teams to ensure operational terminals align with organizational goals – Develop training plans and materials for the team – Regularly update senior management on status, risks, and changes

As a Gateway Terminal Operations Engineer, I will provide remote support to analyze, resolve, and maintain our global network of gateway antennas. I will address tickets generated by automated monitoring systems and offer crucial feedback to enhance our systems. I will also create processes to facilitate effective troubleshooting and resolution efforts. Occasional travel (around 15%) to gateway sites may be required to address physical issues and troubleshoot anomalies. My contributions will ensure our systems remain operational and continue to serve our customers effectively, supporting critical communications with Kuiper satellites. The ground terminals consist of advanced tracking antennas, modems, and cutting-edge support systems. The Ground Systems team oversees the architecture, design, construction, installation, and operation of Kuiper Ground and TTnC terminals worldwide. Our ground gateways enable high data rate and low latency communications between Kuiper points of presence and our Low Earth Orbit satellite constellation. We collaborate closely with Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams to ensure a seamless customer experience. This position offers a base salary ranging from $127,400 in our lowest geographic market to $212,800 in our highest geographic market, influenced by several factors, including market location and job-related expertise.
