Lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

Independently navigate field sites as necessary.

Shift Monday-Friday; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (37.5 hours per week).

Job Summary The Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS), a publicly supported research center within the University of Kentucky (UK), seeks to hire a GIS Technician. This position will complete work tasks associated with geological mapping and mine waste assessment in support of critical minerals and geochemical research. The GIS Tech will develop maps, reports, and digital datasets, and develop GIS assets that curate large geological datasets. The position requires fieldwork to validate map products and collect necessary samples to meet sponsored project objectives. The GIS Tech will work collaboratively with KGS research geologists to produce professional products in support of sponsored projects and meet required delivery deadlines. We seek a colleague with strong organizational and technical skills, as well as an ability to communicate (both written and verbal) with stakeholders. Experience in Kentucky geology is preferred.
