Optical Technician

Location: Oxford (CDP), MA

Salary: $27.00 USD Hourly – $32.00 USD Hourly

Description: Our client is currently seeking a Optical Technician, highly skilled and detail-oriented technician to support the assembly, alignment, and testing of precision opto-mechanical and laser components. This role is critical to ensuring the performance and reliability of advanced optical systems in a cleanroom environment.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Perform product and component-level assembly of opto-mechanical systems.
• Execute precise optical alignment and testing of laser and optical components.
• Apply a variety of assembly techniques including soldering, adhesive bonding, UV curing, and mechanical fastening.
• Clean and inspect optical and mechanical parts to maintain quality standards.
• Conduct optical, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with cleanroom protocols.
• Follow established laser safety procedures and company safety guidelines.
• Document work processes and results accurately using digital tools.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Associate degree in Opto-Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Electronics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in optical or opto-mechanical assembly and testing.
• Proficient in using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers, and laser beam profilers.
• Strong soldering skills and experience working with small components under a microscope.
• Ability to interpret and follow technical schematics and written instructions.
• Comfortable working in cleanroom attire (gloves, bonnets, frocks, shoe covers, etc.).
