This position is EPA (exempt from the State Personnel Act.)

The GTP Airport Manager directs projects both on the airfield side and on the landside of operations, in addition to capital improvement projects for the NCGTP. The position is responsible for ensuring the projects are delivered on time, within budget and meets quality standards. Position has oversite of the work of contractors, architects and engineers involved in the project, while ensuring all work product complies with federal, state, and local regulations. Position also has responsibility for development, implementation and management of the Airport CIP program to include: the program budget, oversite of the projects, coordination of Airport programs and projects with the State of NC, FAA, NC Division of Aviation, and other governmental planning and regulatory agencies, contractors and airport tenants.

Management Prefers Applicants With The Following

  • Strong attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding and application of FAA rules, regulations and guidelines regarding construction, airport operations,
  • Safety, security, emergency response, aircraft landing and navigation aids, the NAS, and aircraft/airport noise abatement.
  • Basic understanding of best practices for CIP program procedures; airport construction management practices for design updates, and construction including runways, taxiways, aircraft parking aprons, grading/drainage, and pavement markings.
  • Effectively convey and exchange information with GTP Staff, contractors, engineers, and architects. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines efficiently. Understands project delivery of CMAR and Design-Build projects.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and written.

  • Must pass a background check and maintain TSA clearance.
  • Valid N.C. Driver’s license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
  • Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E) or Certified Manager (C.M.) through American Association of Airport Executives preferred.

Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or Airport Management, Public or Business Administration/Management or a closely related field. Two plus years of capital improvement program administration, including FAA grant project administration. At least one year of airport operations management experience.
