About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Social Media Manager to join Waymo’s Marketing team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing Waymo’s social media presence, connecting audiences with the innovative and societal impact of autonomous driving technology. Your expertise will help build brand awareness, foster societal acceptance, and support go-to-market initiatives. You will oversee community engagement, content planning, and social strategy development, ensuring alignment with Waymo’s brand voice and mission. Your insights will drive performance analytics and optimize social media campaigns, contributing to the growth of Waymo’s user base and industry leadership. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence public perception of autonomous vehicles and be part of a groundbreaking technological movement.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience as a social media manager, content strategist, or similar role, preferably within a major technology or consumer brand.
  • Expert-level knowledge of major social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, and X, with a strong understanding of their content strategies, metrics, and best practices.
  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills, with a portfolio demonstrating impactful social media content and project management capabilities.
  • Proven experience managing resources such as vendors or contractors to ensure 24/7 community management and rapid escalation protocols.
  • Advanced proficiency with social listening, content management, and analytics tools such as Sprinklr, Sprout Social, and Google Analytics.
  • Preferred experience in the autonomous vehicles, technology, or automotive industries.
  • Experience managing social media during crisis or high-visibility scenarios.
  • Knowledge of social customer care, including empathetic resolution of inquiries across social channels.
  • Experience managing budgets for social media content and paid promotions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of Waymo’s online community engagement, including proactive monitoring, customer advocacy, alert management, and crisis response in collaboration with PR and agency partners.
  • Own and execute the day-to-day social media content calendar, including creative concepting, copywriting, visual asset development, and content production, ensuring consistency with Waymo’s brand voice and messaging.
  • Contribute to the development of the overall social media strategy by providing insights into platform-specific best practices, creative performance, and trending cultural moments.
  • Track, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to optimize campaigns and content strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative campaigns that enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and contractors to scale community management efforts and ensure continuous coverage.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, platform updates, and emerging technologies to keep Waymo’s social media presence innovative and relevant.
