Must have:
As a Distinguished Engineer, I seek a creative problem-solver with at least 15 years of progressive experience in software engineering, particularly focusing on data privacy, governance, and security within large-scale SaaS environments. I look for a candidate who has previously operated at a Distinguished Engineer or Principal Engineer level, demonstrating technical leadership and strategic impact. The successful applicant will exhibit deep expertise in integrating privacy-by-design principles into software architectures and possess extensive hands-on experience with various data governance frameworks and tools. A profound understanding of global privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA is essential. Proven capabilities in building and scaling distributed systems with an emphasis on data security are necessary, as well as expertise in cloud-native architectures like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Proficiency in multiple programming languages (such as Java, Python, Go, Scala) and a strong comprehension of database technologies is also required. Exceptional communication, leadership, and mentorship abilities are crucial. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is expected.
Responsibilities:
In my role as a Distinguished Engineer, I will lead by example while focusing on the following key areas: – Strategic Vision & Leadership: I will define and advocate for the long-term technical roadmap related to data governance and privacy, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory standards and industry practices. – Architectural Design & Guidance: I will spearhead the design and implementation of secure, resilient, and scalable architectures that prioritize privacy and data governance. I will also provide expert consultation to engineering teams on privacy-preserving methods, maintaining data integrity and consent management. – Technical Excellence & Innovation: My focus will be on promoting the use of advanced technologies to enhance our data privacy capabilities, while also identifying innovative solutions to complex challenges. – Cross-Functional Collaboration: I will work closely with various teams, including Legal, Product, and Security, to translate regulatory requirements into practical, actionable technical solutions. – Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: I will mentor senior engineers and cultivate a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning throughout the organization, sharing my expertise through reviews, presentations, and documentation. – Incident Response & Remediation: I will lead rapid containment efforts, root cause analysis, and effective remediation during privacy-related incidents. – Vendor & Tooling Evaluation: I will assess and recommend third-party tools and services to enhance our privacy and data governance efforts.
