About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Front End Software Engineer to join our Marketing team at OpenAI. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying engaging and accessible web interfaces that communicate OpenAI’s mission, advances, and products to a global audience. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, marketing, and product stakeholders, to build scalable and reusable front-end systems that support millions of visitors on openai.com. Your contributions will help shape how the world perceives and interacts with AI technology, ensuring our messaging is clear, compelling, and aligned with our core values of transparency and authenticity.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building large-scale web applications, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a passion for continuous learning and innovation. You will be responsible for planning and implementing front-end infrastructure, collaborating with team members to optimize user experience, and ensuring the robustness and performance of our web platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience in front-end development for production web applications at scale
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Next.js, React, and modern web technologies
• Solid understanding of native JavaScript, HTML, and CSS fundamentals
• Experience with building reusable and efficient front-end systems
• Familiarity with front-end deployment, testing, and infrastructure management
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to share technical concepts clearly and effectively
• Demonstrated curiosity and eagerness for continuous learning and skill development
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and adapting to rapidly changing priorities

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design, marketing, and product teams to translate requirements into functional web interfaces
• Develop and maintain scalable, reusable, and efficient front-end systems for openai.com
• Design and implement new features to enhance user engagement and accessibility
• Plan and deploy front-end infrastructure to facilitate site testing, deployment, and updates
• Optimize website performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure code quality and maintainability
• Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve our web platforms
• Troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues promptly to ensure a seamless user experience
