About The Role The Frontend Software Engineer for Mission Control at Applied Intuition plays a pivotal role in developing tailored user interfaces that enable our defense customers to interact effectively with autonomous systems. Mission Control is a specialized suite of UI tools designed for testing, understanding, and operating autonomous vehicles in simulation and real-world scenarios. The role involves creating highly configurable, stable, and intuitive frontend platforms that support complex multi-agent workflows related to mission planning, monitoring, and debriefing. As part of a dynamic startup environment within the company, the engineer will work in rapid iteration cycles to deliver impactful autonomy tooling for defense applications. Responsibilities include designing and implementing data-oriented UI/UX solutions, collaborating with design teams to understand user workflows, and integrating frontend components with in-house simulators, data pipelines, and autonomous systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong vision for user interface design, expertise in real-time command and control interfaces, and a passion for developing innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and user experience.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in full-stack React and TypeScript development
  • Experience designing command and control interfaces or other real-time applications
  • Strong spatial reasoning skills and experience with 2D/3D geographic map rendering
  • Experience working with real-time robotic or autonomous systems interfaces
  • Excellent understanding of UI/UX principles and intuitive interface design
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including designers and system engineers
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a security clearance
  • Desire to learn, grow, and take ownership of new product features and systems

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a data-oriented frontend UI/UX platform tailored for defense applications
  • Collaborate with the design team to understand user workflows and translate them into functional interfaces
  • Implement interactive 2D/3D rendering tools for mission planning, monitoring, and debriefing
  • Integrate frontend components with in-house simulators, data transmission pipelines, and autonomous systems
  • Develop and maintain a stable, configurable, and user-friendly frontend platform
  • Write comprehensive test fixtures to ensure robustness and reliability of the UI
  • Participate in agile development cycles, providing rapid iteration and continuous improvement
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver seamless integration of UI with backend systems
  • Stay updated with the latest frontend development trends and incorporate best practices
