About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Back-End Engineer to join our AI Agent Studio team at Automation Anywhere. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core backend services that underpin our APA platform. Your expertise will contribute to building scalable APIs, data processing pipelines, and robust backend infrastructure that facilitate the smooth operation of AI-powered agents and human collaboration. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of automation technology, contributing to products that are transforming enterprise workflows. The role is hybrid, with a preference for onsite presence at our San Jose, CA office, though remote candidates within the U.S. will also be considered. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, AI Agent Studio, you will be a key player in driving technical excellence and innovation within our engineering team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in back-end development
• Proficiency in Java and at least one server-side language/framework such as Node.js or Python
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture
• Experience with Spring framework, including REST APIs, security, and data access
• Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases like Elasticsearch
• Familiarity with message brokers such as Kafka or ActiveMQ
• Understanding of client-server models, authentication, and authorization mechanisms
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Automation tools, observability stacks, or security best practices knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust REST APIs, services, and backend infrastructure to support enterprise applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Front-End Engineers, Product Managers, QA, and Support to deliver comprehensive features
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code while participating in design and code reviews to uphold engineering standards
• Identify system bottlenecks and implement improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability
• Evaluate and adopt modern backend technologies, frameworks, and processes to optimize development workflows
• Mentor junior developers, share best practices, and support team knowledge sharing
• Ensure security and data integrity through secure coding practices and adherence to data governance policies
