Salary Range: £42,922 – £46,339 BAR £48,151 – £51,507 per annum

Working Arrangements: Full Time

The States of Guernsey are looking to appoint a Motor Vehicle Technician to join the team within Bailiwick Law Enforcement.

The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance of the Home Affairs vehicle fleet and the St John Ambulance vehicle fleet. They will be required to examine collision damaged vehicles, unroadworthy vehicles, Heavy Goods Vehicles and those subject to the Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme.

They will also be required to prepare thorough, and in some cases complex, reports and witness statements, following vehicle examinations for incorporation in Law Enforcement incident case files, and, where applicable to present the findings of vehicle examinations in the capacity of an expert witness in Court.

The post will require attendance in the UK to obtain specialist training as required and there is the potential for unsociable working in response to service demands.

Job Description

Law Enforcement Vetting:

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Law Enforcement Vetting e-Form. If you are successful after interview, a copy of your passport and your Guernsey Social Security Number or UK National Insurance number will be forwarded to the Guernsey Vetting Unit by HR; please ensure this information is entered / uploaded onto your job application. A link to access your Law Enforcement Vetting e-Form will then be sent to you via email by the Guernsey Vetting Unit.

In order to satisfy residency criteria, you need to have been resident in the UK or Guernsey for a period of 3 years. The calculation of the period of time refers to the period immediately before an application is made and not any other period or accumulation of time spent in the UK or Guernsey.Convictions likely to be considered relevant to this post include crimes involving Theft, Dishonesty and Fraud.
