Medical Biller – Behavioral Health

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced medical biller with significant experience in Behavioral Health billing.

Key Requirements:

Understanding of Behavioral Health billing and proficiency with data analysis [please do not apply if lacking this experience]

Qualifications:

• 3 years of medical billing experience in Behavioral Health, across multiple payers
• Strong understanding of Behavioral Health platforms – e.g., ICANotes, Therapynotes, Valant, Netsmart, and clearinghouses/payers, e.g., Waystar, Medicaid
• Proficiency with data manipulation and analysis, i.e., using spreadsheets
• Expertise with DRG, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 systems., and other coding systems as they relate to Behavioral Health
• Excellent understanding of health insurance providers, Medicare, Medicaid and of industry-specific policies, such as HIPAA regulations for health care
• Great interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with experience working directly with customers / providers in a healthcare setting

Responsibilities:

• Guide the onboarding of new customers and the setting up of new accounts across all applicable portals (EHRs, Clearinghouses, etc)
• Ensure accurate coding and billing as relates to Behavioral Health as billed by the Anise platform
• Work with the necessary Payors and EHRs Anise is integrated with to ensure efficient, error-free billing for Behavioral Health
• Understand and handle billing exceptions to best serve our providers but also improve our platform capabilities
• In partnership with our Engineering and Sales functions, develop necessary content to guide relationships between Anise, program administrators, and customers

Preferred Qualifications [not required]:

• 5 years of medical billing experience, including considerable experiences with Medicare, Medicaid, and other Behavioral Health/Clinic programs.
• General experience in other local programs in different states (MA, CT, TX, FL, etc)
• [Some] Knowledge of EDI X12 or ability to work with EDI healthcare systems and codes
