About The Role

Chime is seeking talented software engineers to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining APIs that support our customer-facing products and core banking platform. You will take ownership of projects from conception to deployment, influencing system architecture, implementing robust APIs, and ensuring the ongoing health and scalability of our systems. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with mobile developers to design resilient APIs that power our mobile applications, and with cross-functional teams to identify member pain points and craft innovative solutions. Your efforts will directly impact the reliability, performance, and user experience of our platform. The role offers a competitive salary starting at $119,000 and can go up to $232,200 based on experience and location. Full-time employees are also eligible for bonuses, equity packages, and comprehensive benefits. Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience developing software in a production environment at scale
  • Proficiency with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks
  • Experience working with transactional databases and caching systems
  • Knowledge of architectural patterns used in large-scale web applications
  • Strong understanding of maintainable, well-tested code
  • Desire to learn and understand the deep technical workings of systems
  • Start-up experience is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, refactor, and scale backend implementations for new and existing consumer product features
  • Collaborate with mobile development teams to create resilient and efficient APIs that enhance mobile app functionality
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand member challenges and develop innovative solutions
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and scalability
  • Maintain high technical standards across the engineering team through code reviews and best practices
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the evolution of our platform infrastructure
  • Ensure the security, stability, and performance of backend systems
  • Continuously learn new technologies and methodologies to improve development processes
