Veradermics Corporate Overview
Veradermics is a late clinical-stage aesthetics and dermatology focused biopharmaceutical company developing first-in-class therapeutics for common dermatologic conditions.
Fresh off a $75 million Series B financing, we are entering an exciting new chapter. This funding propels the development of our lead candidate, VDPHL01, a non-hormonal oral therapeutic for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and patterned hair loss (PHL). We are currently in late-stage Phase 2 (L-2) development for this asset, with Phase 3 preparations underway as we work to deliver transformative solutions and redefine the standard of care in dermatology. Director, FP&A | Position Overview
The Director of FP&A; will serve as a hands-on leader and sole contributor initially, reporting directly to the CFO. This role will establish foundational FP&A; processes, deliver accurate and timely insights, and serve as a trusted partner to executives and functional leaders. The position is highly visible, with significant impact on strategic decision-making and future capital market readiness.
Establish FP&A Function
- Design and implement core FP&A processes for planning, forecasting, and reporting.
- Lead the annual budget cycle, quarterly forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Develop dashboards, models, and KPIs to track financial health (P&L, operating expenses, cash runway).
Financial Modeling
- Build and maintain complex scenario-based models integrating R&D milestones, clinical trial timelines, and commercial projections.
- Support clinical program financial planning, including accrual tracking and study-level transparency in collaboration with accounting.
- Conduct ad hoc scenario planning, ROI analyses, and resource optimization to support strategic decision making.
Analytics & Insights
- Monitor and interpret key performance indicators such as burn rate, budget-to-actuals, and long-range planning.
- Ensure accuracy of master data and develop processes to capture and analyze CRO and clinical trial data.
- Provide actionable insights that align finance with operational strategy.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with R&D, Clinical, and Medical Affairs leaders to explain cost drivers and forecast assumptions.
- Build regular business review touchpoints with VPs and department heads.
- Collaborate with the Controller on G&A planning and long-range modeling.
- Serve as a strategic thought-partner on high-impact initiatives, driving scenario planning, investment analysis, and resource optimization.
Candidate Profile | Who You Are
- 8 years of progressive FP&A or finance experience; biotech/life sciences strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of supporting R&D and clinical development organizations.
- Experience in high-growth or pre-commercial environments
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling expertise; ERP system proficiency required (NetSuite experience a plus).
- Hands-on experience building processes, implementing systems, and improving data integrity.
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with adaptability, ownership, and problem-solving mindset.
Location:
- New Haven, Connecticut – this is a hybrid role that requires 1-2 days per week in our New Haven office
