JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: OSP Engineer
Location: Berlin, NJ (Hybrid)
Duration: Long-term
The Outside Plant Engineer is responsible for designing upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to the Outside Plant telephony network. This includes all structures (such as poles and conduit systems), cable (copper & fiber) and associated equipment for aerial, underground, buried plant. The engineer monitors and analyzes activity within a geographical turf and designs solutions to maintain or enhance service. He/she coordinates professionally with a variety of Verizon departments and also has direct external customer contact with Verizon customers and partners including government agencies, other utilities as well as construction industry trades and contractors. The engineer must be able to solve complex problems with innovative solutions, select and implement the most effective design and project manage the resulting work order through to completion. The engineer has the authority, up to a set dollar limit, to choose and implement solutions independently. The engineer needs the ability to work independently in a diverse environment both indoors and outdoors. The employee may need to drive a non CDL vehicle and possess a valid driver?s license. The employee may need to sit, stand or walk for periods of time to accomplish engineering work including field surveys. The employee may need to lift/move materials customary to a typical office environment. The employee must have his/herown transportation and valid DL. The employee must have the ability to work from home (broadband connection).
We are seeking candidates with the following skill sets:
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Must have commensurate work experience directly in OSPE for a telecom firm.
- Must have experience with IDDS/ICGS
- Should have experience with MS OFFICE & G Suite
- Must be familiar with engineering FTTP networks ? copper network engineering experience a plus
- Superior analytical, communication, project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal customer contact skills including negotiation experience.
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: (valuable, but not required to obtain the position)
- PMP or CAPM
- VZ Systems experience LFACS, vBuild, DCWEB, SPANs, LEIS
