Job Description:

  • The Material Buyer is responsible for procuring all materials required for production activities at RTD Tucson Operations and affiliated production sites.
  • This role ensures timely material availability, effective supplier management, and compliance with procurement standards.
  • The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams, including production planners, scientists, suppliers, and warehouse staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase materials to support production demand across multiple ION production sites.
  • Perform operational buying tasks including daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly standard work.
  • Process purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve order-related issues.
  • Manage supplier forecasts and anticipate production plan changes to ensure continuous material availability.
  • Verify and approve invoices, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely payment processing.
  • Maintain accurate supplier data in SAP and iCollab; provide first-level support for procurement tools.
  • Monitor deliveries, escalate potential delays, and drive risk mitigation actions to avoid shortages.
  • Negotiate alternative solutions when product availability is at risk.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address discrepancies and meet delivery schedules.
  • Support supplier collaboration projects, supplier review meetings, and improvement initiatives.
  • Visit supplier facilities for problem-solving and process improvement activities.
  • Partner with cross-site teams to ensure smooth implementation of change orders.
  • Contribute up to 30% of time on project-related tasks and cross-site initiatives.
  • Optimize procurement processes to improve efficiency, quality, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to FDA and Quality Systems requirements.
  • Complete all compliance-related training on time.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirement/Must Have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or material buying.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and self-motivation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Accountability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn ERP systems and apply them effectively for planning and purchasing.
  • Understanding of inventory management principles and material flow.

Should Have / Nice-to-Have Requirements:

  • Knowledge of SAP and procurement tools (iCollab or similar).
  • Proficiency in Google Suite products.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Experience in supplier collaboration and supplier development initiatives.
  • Ability to act as a change agent driving continuous improvement.
  • Experience in FDA-regulated environments or similar compliance-driven industries.
