About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing advanced analytics software that disrupts traditional industry practices. Your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing sophisticated algorithms for information extraction and data fusion from various remote sensing and proprietary sources. You will work closely with analysts and domain experts to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions that are scalable and efficient. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform, geospatial data analysis, and relational databases, along with a strong background in algorithm development and machine learning. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects that impact industries globally, with the flexibility of remote work and the support of a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MS degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Data Scientist role
  • Proficiency in building scalable data processing pipelines on Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with geospatial data formats such as GeoJSON, Shapefiles, and related libraries (Geopandas, GDAL, Fiona, Shapely)
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and complex query execution (e.g., PostGIS)
  • Hands-on experience with image processing and machine learning libraries (SciPy, Pytorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Image, Scikit-Learn, OpenCV)
  • Ability to develop and maintain Python-based applications for real-time data streams
  • Knowledge of data fusion techniques, probabilistic and deterministic algorithms
  • Understanding of optimization principles, linear programming, and graph-based methods is a plus
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, especially in remote, cross-time-zone environments

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with analysts and domain experts to gather and interpret business requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions
  • Design, develop, and implement algorithms for information extraction and fusion from remote sensing and proprietary data sources
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to define and refine problem statements, developing candidate algorithms to evaluate tradeoffs
  • Assemble, clean, and prepare training and testing datasets to ensure high-quality model development
  • Train, test, and iterate machine learning models to meet performance benchmarks
  • Develop and maintain Python applications for processing volatile live data streams on Google Cloud Platform
  • Execute complex queries on relational databases to extract actionable insights from geospatial data
  • Optimize application performance and scalability to operate efficiently under high load conditions
  • Implement best practices in coding, testing, and deployment automation within a CI/CD environment
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to real-time data processing, geospatial analysis, and cloud computing
