stage of a project Job Description The Principal Pavement Engineering Subject Matter Expert provides strategic technical leadership in pavement engineering mechanistic empirical pavement analysis and design pavement materials performance evaluation preservation rehabilitation and transportation asset management This position leads the development and implementation of innovative pavement engineering solutions by integrating advanced analytical methods field performance evaluation non destructive testing mechanistic modeling and data driven decision making to support transportation agencies and infrastructure owners The role also provides technical oversight for complex pavement investigations forensic evaluations research implementation emerging materials and technologies and the delivery of resilient sustainable and high performance pavement systems Core Responsibilities Provide strategic technical leadership and subject matter expertise in pavement engineering including pavement design materials rehabilitation preservation and performance evaluationLead the development and review of innovative pavement engineering solutions for complex transportation infrastructure projectsAdvise project teams and clients on mechanistic empirical pavement design asset management life cycle analysis and resilient pavement strategiesDirect complex pavement investigations forensic evaluations non destructive testing NDT and performance assessments to support engineering decisionsSupport business development through client engagement proposal development technical presentations and implementation of emerging technologies and research into engineering practice Youll thrive here if you have PhD in Civil Engineering Pavement Engineering Transportation Engineering or a closely related fieldMinimum of 15 years of experience in pavement engineering transportation infrastructure or applied pavement researchDemonstrated expertise in pavement design pavement materials rehabilitation performance evaluation and asset managementProven record of leading complex engineering projects applied research or implementation initiatives for transportation agencies or infrastructure ownersStrong technical communication skills including preparation of technical reports presentations and client recommendationsProfessional Engineer PE license preferred or ability to obtain licensure if requiredExpert knowledge of mechanistic empirical pavement design and analysisExperience with pavement materials characterization pavement performance evaluation preservation and rehabilitation strategiesKnowledge of pavement condition assessment non destructive testing NDT forensic engineering and field performance monitoringFamiliarity with pavement management systems life cycle cost analysis and transportation asset management principlesExperience applying advanced analytical methods computational modeling artificial intelligence or machine learning to pavement
