COMPANY OVERVIEW Balchem is committed to making the world a healthier place by delivering trusted innovative and science based solutions for the health and nutritional needs of the world Balchem employs approximately 1400 employees worldwide who provide the service quality and technology that enables our customers to win with their customers We have built a reputation for delivering results to all of our stakeholders Founded in 1967 Balchem a Maryland corporation became a publicly traded company in 1970 and is listed on Nasdaq under the symbol BCPC Our corporate headquarters is located in Montvale New Jersey and we have a broad network of sales offices manufacturing sites and R&D centers primarily located in the US and Europe The Company consists of three business segments Human Nutrition and Health Animal Nutrition and Health and Specialty Products POSITION SUMMARY Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as filling marking labeling banding tying packing or wrapping containers by performing the following duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Fill bags or totes to proper weight according to plant and outside agency specificationsEnsure that the bags are properly sealed so that no powder is leaking out of sealStack finished product on pallets in a neat and orderly manner to facilitate good handling of the pallets in transportProperly label product according to instructions including product code lot number and any special markingsSample product for lab and customer and inspect powder samples for any specks and foreign matter to ensure high quality of product and prevent contamination following Standard Operating ProceduresMaintain proper documentation of product packaged as well as rework and scrap produced to ensure accuracy of records; this includes records for metal detector checks weight checks equipment and utensil checksInspect equipment to ensure it is in top working order report any problems to supervisor or maintenanceFollow all Good Manufacturing Practices GMPs Standard Operating Procedures SOPs and HACCP Programs for safety of self and others as well as overall compliancePractice good housekeepingStaging ingredients cleaning your area and assisting fellow employees in cleaning or setting up other areas and other duties jobs and functions as assigned or requiredClean and sanitize packaging equipment and work area to eliminate contamination sourcesConduct proficient CIP and COP processes to ensure cleanliness of equipmentPerforms general maintenance skills with basic hand tools as neededOther duties as may be assignedREQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent preferredTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorilySome production experience preferredWORKING CONDITIONS Continuous physical activity through the work day such as climbing balancing stooping reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting hearing talking repetitive motion and moving objects weighing up to 55 lbs
