About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Technical SME / Architect with deep expertise in MEDITECH hospital application systems to lead a large-scale legacy data migration and archival initiative . This role will focus on designing and implementing automated solutions for extracting MEDITECH data, transforming it for SQL Server, and building a scalable archival application leveraging InterSystems IRIS for Health.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of MEDITECH data models and MUMPS architecture with hands-on experience in healthcare workflows, data mapping, and integration across clinical and administrative systems.

Key Responsibilities

Short-Term Objectives:

  • Design and build automation tools for downloading MEDITECH legacy data and loading it into SQL Server.
  • Establish and validate schema relationships, record counts, and data completeness.
  • Manage unstructured data, including external attachments (images, PDFs, etc.) tied to patient records.

Longer-Term Deliverables:

  • Develop a homegrown archival application supporting multiple healthcare platforms.
  • Deliver a functional prototype and automation tools to reduce manual mapping efforts.
  • Integrate archival solutions across systems, ensuring interoperability and compliance.
  • Create technical documentation on workflows, schema mapping, and validation processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Deep experience with MEDITECH hospital application systems (end-user workflows backend configuration).
  • Strong background in MEDITECH module development/customization, including:
  • Administrative: ADM, ABS, MIS, DR, MRI, SCA, EPS
  • Clinical: OE/POM/OM, PCI/PCS/NUR, PCM, EDM, LAB, PHA, RAD, ORM/MSMSURG
  • Expertise in the MEDITECH Data Model and MUMPS architecture.
  • Proficiency with InterSystems IRIS (Cach and IRIS) and hierarchical/relational databases.
  • Strong SQL Server skills (schema design, data loading, validation, transformations).
  • Hands-on experience with healthcare data identification, mapping, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with hierarchical storage structures, global arrays, and MEDITECH file types.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Exposure to reporting/BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, jReports).

Engagement & Collaboration

  • Participate in project governance, remote working sessions, and status calls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional healthcare and technology teams to identify, remediate, and validate data discrepancies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship in data mapping, SQL logic development, and workflow optimization.
