Training Program Centerless Grinder – 2nd Shift
Set up and operate centerless grinders for external grinding of various components. Set up and operate spot welders to weld lugs into cup assemblies. Set up and operate manual polishers to polish cups and/or remove Teflon coatings. Follow instructions from group leaders or supervisors to meet workload requirements. Work from blueprints, operation sheets, method sheets, sketches, and verbal instructions to produce and repair parts to quality and quantity standards. Select, mount, balance, and dress grinding/regulating wheels; set feeds and speeds according to material type and finish requirements. Indicate and true up work rests and feed-thru guides; change diamond dressing nibs, work rests, feed-thru guides, and feed gages as needed. Set up measurement tools (drop sticks, verniers, torque testers, micrometers) to ensure weld quality; submit samples for lab approval. Check own work after initial inspection by group leader or supervisor. Occasionally direct another employee during wheel mounting or feed-thru operations. Report faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual conditions to group leader or supervisor. Maintain a clean and orderly work area, equipment, and tools in accordance with 5S standards. Observe all safety precautions, company rules, and regulations. Perform utility operator duties in the machine seals assembly area during low workload periods or as directed. High School or GED degree equivalents 6 months experoence in a manufacturing enviroment This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
