Job Title: Senior Programmer/ Senior SQL Developer

Job Description:

  • The client is seeking the assistance of a Senior Programmer Analyst 3 to augment the current Cancer Application and Data Sharing Platform (DSP) technical support team.
  • The successful candidate will work on a combination of steady-state and project-based efforts to support, enhance, and develop critical systems.
  • This role will involve technical design, data preparation, troubleshooting, and supporting ongoing digital transformation initiatives within the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain existing Cancer Application and Data Sharing Platform systems.
  • Perform database conversions and prepare data for analytics.
  • Investigate, design, and enhance the Data Sharing Platform (DSP).
  • Develop and implement security models for DSP.
  • Participate in technical governance and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve system and data-related issues.
  • Contribute to advancing the goals and capabilities of the DSP.
  • Provide after-hours support as required (with prior approval).
  • Complete all assigned maintenance, support, and development activities including service requests, releases, incidents, and problems.
  • Participate in application release activities and update documentation accordingly.
  • Contribute to team knowledge bases, documentation, and scrums as required.

Requirement/Must Have:

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years of demonstrated IM/IT experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting and maintaining health applications for a Regional Health Authority or Department of Health in a Canadian Provincial jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including the creation of SSIS packages.

Experience:

  • Strong experience in health application support and data integration.
  • Proven background in database conversions and ETL development.
  • Experience working within large-scale healthcare or government IT environments.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of technical governance and data security best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong collaboration and documentation skills.

Qualification And Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
