The Competitive Intelligence team is part of Chevron’s Investor Relations organization and is responsible for assessing and communicating strategic insights and the financial & operational performance of Chevron’s primary competitors.

This involves analysis and modeling of historical results as well as future projections for benchmarking against Chevron performance for reporting to senior leaders, the Board of Directors, and external communications.

In addition to benchmarking at the enterprise and segment levels, there is strong partnership across the enterprise to deliver competitor insights to support and influence decision-making (ie, Strategy, Planning and business teams).

The Senior Competitive Intelligence Finance Analyst position is responsible for analysis and reporting of competitor financial and operational performance on a comparable basis, and for identifying and developing insights to improve our understanding of underlying strategies and performance relative to Chevron. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate and partner with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver insightful industry and competitor analysis.

Responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Leads analysis and reporting of performance and strategic updates for assigned competitors, in addition to timely communication of new announcements or developments.
  • Assesses projected/modeled future performance to identify and monitor major drivers and key watch areas.
  • Prepares communications for the Chevron Executive Leadership Team and other senior Chevron leaders to share competitive insights.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders on portfolio assessments or other ad hoc analysis.
  • Assesses and deploys digital tools to improve efficiency of analysis and effectiveness in driving quality insights and analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • 5 years of finance, planning, or business analysis experience within the oil and gas industry
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal), analytical, presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to convey insights to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders to influence outcomes

Preferr ed Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, and Power BI
  • Experience working in or with multinational businesses
  • Proficient in handling diverse responsibilities across several projects, prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and exceeding expectations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working with senior management to influence decision-making
  • Self-starter with a growth mindset to learn and improve, and challenge the status quo
