Safety Coordinator
Job Title: Safety Manager– Commercial Steel & Steel ErectionPosition Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Manager to oversee and manage safety initiatives across our steel erection jobsites and fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to safety compliance, have strong familiarity with the steel erection industry, and demonstrate the ability to lead effective safety programs across both field and shop operations.Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols for field crews (30–40 workers).
- Oversee safety procedures for the fabrication shop (35–40 workers).
- Conduct weekly jobsite and shop visits to evaluate safety compliance and provide hands-on guidance.
- Maintain, revise, and optimize existing safety forms and documentation.
- Complete and manage AHA (Activity Hazard Analysis) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis) forms for all operations.
- Deliver onboarding safety training for new employees.
- Maintain and regularly update the Safety Training and Certification Matrix for all team members.
- Manage and update the company’s ISNetworld account.
- Organize and lead weekly toolbox talks at field and shop locations.
- Handle all OSHA logs, site visits, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Investigate and report all jobsite and fabrication shop incidents and violations.
- Facilitate quarterly Foreman Safety Meetings and monthly Safety Committee Meetings for the fabrication shop.
- Assist with annual safety equipment inspections and documentation.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and revise Site-Specific Erection Plans.
- Coordinate and lead safety stand-downs when necessary.
- Participate in jobsite visits with the Workers’ Comp insurance provider.
- Support and maintain AISC certification compliance through documentation and process assistance.
- Assist in ongoing Safety Manual revisions and upgrades.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of safety experience in the commercial steel erection or related construction industry (required)
- Hands-on knowledge of steel erection operations, hazards, and compliance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR certifications (required)
- Experience with ISNetworld, safety audits, and compliance platforms
- Familiarity with AISC certification processes
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations
- Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and lead safety culture
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, mobile safety apps, and digital reporting tools
