Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours — Days but late evening flexibility is required

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Investigate incidents reported to the Justice Center, including abuse, neglect, and theft.
  • Manage 5–6 active investigations at a time, prioritizing and progressing each simultaneously.
  • Collect documentation from homes, day programs, staff, and other sources.
  • Conduct interviews with staff and witnesses — sometimes during late evenings or early mornings.
  • Write detailed, professional investigative reports for review by the QA Coordinator, QA Committee, OPWDD/Justice Center, and occasionally families.
  • Make determinations of responsibility based on the preponderance of evidence and recommend remediation steps to prevent recurrence.

What You Bring:

  • Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to draft detailed reports.
  • Professionalism under scrutiny — open to feedback, revisions, and quality oversight.
  • Self-motivation, organization, and the ability to meet investigative deadlines.
  • Integrity and ethical judgment, especially when uncovering staff misconduct.
  • Comfort handling uncooperative or resistant staff interactions.
  • Flexibility for occasional late-night or early-morning investigative needs.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Preferred backgrounds: criminal justice, OPWDD, or HR investigations.
  • Less suited for DSPs without investigative or analytical experience.
