We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Point of Care Laboratory Technologist to join our team in a dynamic mobile laboratory setting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process specimens from phlebotomists and couriers, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
  • Operate and maintain automated laboratory instruments, performing routine quality control and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Conduct waived point-of-care testing in various departments including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular, and Coagulation, adhering to established protocols.
  • Enter accurate patient demographics and test orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Monitor and document quality control measures, addressing any issues to uphold testing accuracy and reliability.
  • Confirm abnormal or suspicious results with appropriate oversight, and promptly communicate findings that require immediate attention.
  • Perform blood collection procedures, including venipuncture and capillary sampling, maintaining specimen integrity throughout the process.
  • Ensure proper specimen processing, logging, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and document lot numbers in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Closely monitor STAT testing priorities and turnaround times to meet operational goals.
  • Assist in troubleshooting instrument, computer, or client-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including biohazard handling and use of personal protective equipment, in a compliant laboratory environment.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment, documenting activities accurately.
  • Complete all clerical tasks related to specimen management, testing, and reporting, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in training programs for skill enhancement and career growth.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or certification in medical laboratory technology preferred.
  • Proven experience with point-of-care testing and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate a delivery van (must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record).
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and data entry protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both technical and procedural issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating reliability and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills for team collaboration and result reporting.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, and perform fine motor tasks.
  • Capable of lifting up to 15 pounds regularly; occasional pushing or pulling of equipment up to 50 pounds with proper tools.
  • Work involves exposure to biological materials, biological hazards, and hazardous substances; appropriate safety procedures are mandated.
  • Visual acuity required for precise specimen handling and instrument operation.
