Lead Controls and Automation Engineer
The Lead Test/Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust testing and assembly processes. The Lead Test/Controls Engineer is responsible for portions of design, development, fabrication, validation, installation, support and troubleshooting of production test equipment and programs. The Lead Test/Controls Engineer is a coach, mentor, and role model for others to personally grow for working with them In this role you will: Test System Design & Support: Provide guidelines for selecting test equipment and protocols, develop compliant specifications, and support, service, and troubleshoot electrical test systems. Safety & Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with OSHA and safe work practices, identify and mitigate hazards, and uphold a zero-incident culture through documentation and communication. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work: Partner with manufacturing, engineering, MESH, suppliers, and customers to align testing strategies and product standards. Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction: Lead or support initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma tools, drive cost-out efforts, and monitor performance metrics. Root Cause Analysis & Knowledge Sharing: Conduct failure analyses, apply problem-solving techniques, and mentor others in critical thinking. Capital & Process Development: Guide equipment selection, manage CARs for new programs, and actively participate in facility assessments. Technology Integration: Leverage innovation to enhance information systems and reduce inefficiencies in test data flow. Project & Change Management: Lead projects with clear goals and budgets, align teams and stakeholders, and apply ADKAR and MOC frameworks to sustain operational improvements. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Science from an accredited institution. Five (5) years of test/controls engineering experience. Five (5) experience in many computer programing software such as visual basic/studio, SQL, and other Microsoft applications. Five (5) experience with PLC, HMI programming and safety systems design. Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates that reside outside a 50-mile radius of Waukesha, WI. Seven (7) years Controls/Test engineering experience Six Sigma certified (green/black); skilled in 8D, A3, FMEA, Pareto/control charts Electrical testing & troubleshooting NFPA 70E compliance; schematic interpretation ETO manufacturing support; resolves design/production issues PROLaunch project management Leads installations; resolves contractor issues Proficient in LabVIEW, TestStand, RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, VB6
