Job Description: Under the direction of the Director of HIM and in accordance with established policies and procedures within the Health Information Department, candidate will perform assembly and analysis on patient medical records while meeting the required production standards. They include: Inpatient Medical Records: 8/10 hr.; Ambulatory Surgery Records 20/22 hr.; Emergency Room Records 40-50 hr. Loose filing must be completed for a minimum of 30 minutes each day to ensure that patient medical records are current. Completes the processing of transcribed reports on a daily basis. Files loose reports at 40-50 pieces per hour, and files back/retrieval of complete medical records at 50-60 charts per hour. Retrieves and refiles various medical records request for information, assists with special projects as determined by department needs and work load. Responsible for retrieving records for pre-admissions, ED, and surgical patients. Performs various clerical/support functions in conjunction with the completion and processing of all types of incomplete records including filing and routine release of information requests. Responsible for assisting physicians with completing incomplete records and secondary analysis.
naRequirements: EDUCATION:
Minimum:
- High school graduate.
Preferred:
- Medical terminology (medical terminology class will be required once on the job).
LICENSE: PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:WORK EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
- Three to five years of healthcare experience.
- Experience with Meditech system, numbering and filing systems, record storage, and record assembly/analysis.
Minimum:
- Must be able to work in multiple locations in a single day.
SKILLS:
Minimum:
- Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets, power point.
- Must have strong attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and excellent filing and handwriting skills.
- Ability to work independently with good follow through on research of patient related data.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to travel to multiple locations on any given day as requested.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
