The Position

The Category Management Analyst, reporting to the Director Category Management, plays a critical role in driving data-driven decisions that shape the success of our product categories. This position bridges strategy and execution by analyzing market, sales, and customer data to inform long-term planning, while also developing dashboards, reports, and performance tracking that ensure effective category management. By transforming complex information into actionable insights, the analyst supports the development and execution of strategies that improve category performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

In this role, you will work closely with Category Managers, Sales, Marketing, Service, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure cross-functional strategies are aligned with company objectives and market demands. You will provide reporting and analytics that inform pricing, sales strategy, and product lifecycle, while also monitoring competitive activity and industry developments.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Analytical Support
- Contribute to sales, demand, and margin forecasting by analyzing historical trends, market dynamics, and customer behavior to improve planning accuracy and category performance.
- Support category product launches by providing data-driven insights to support the development of go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and execution planning.
- Gather and synthesize customer, prospect, and stakeholder feedback to inform category strategies and product enhancements.
- Assist in feasibility studies and financial modeling to evaluate the impact of new initiatives, pricing strategies, or product enhancements on revenue, margin, and customer outcomes.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Develop and manage KPI reporting and dashboards to support the general management of the category, contributing to strategic decisions and profitability.
- Lead ongoing category performance monitoring, identifying key drivers of revenue, margin, and customer satisfaction, and recommend strategic and tactical adjustments.
- Deliver recurring performance reviews and recommendations to category managers and senior leaders to support data-driven decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support cross-functional team communication to ensure seamless and effective management of categories, driving initiatives across Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, Service, Supply Chain, and IT.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, economics, or equivalent experience required
- Experience:
- 2 years of experience in category management, product management, business analysis, financial analysis, or a related analytical role.
- Proven experience working with large data sets and developing actionable insights to support business decisions.
- Experience with forecasting, financial modeling, and performance measurement (revenue, margin, customer metrics).
- Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional product/program launches, ideally in product-driven consumer or industrial sectors.
- Experience working in matrix-based organizations and driving success through influencing others.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Excel, BI tools, or SQL.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of influencing business or marketing strategies through competitive analysis, market awareness, and product positioning.
- A pragmatic problem solver capable of identifying and executing new solutions for complex business challenges.
- Effective at time management, prioritizing tasks based on strategic value to drive the best outcomes for the business.
- Ability to synthesize technical and commercial data into compelling business recommendations.
