Job Description:
- The client is seeking a short-term contractor to serve as a Java Mid-Level Technical Specialist on the DMV Traffic Records Systems (TRS) project team.
- The selected candidate will backfill the current team as they develop the eCrash / NC-CRIS project.
- TRS supports the DMV Crash Data Management and the Department of Highways (DOH) Traffic Safety in the collection, analysis, and distribution of motor vehicle accident information.
- The chosen candidate will be part of the application maintenance team, serving as a technical specialist and consultant by independently managing complex Java projects and providing second-level 24×7 on-call support.
- The role also involves collaborating with business owners to translate customer requests into technical requirements, coordinating software release schedules, developing business requirements, and providing testing and training support.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical specialist on the DMV Traffic Records Systems (TRS) project.
- Manage complex Java projects and provide second-level on-call technical support.
- Collaborate with business owners to translate customer requests into technical requirements and user stories.
- Coordinate software release schedules with business and technical teams.
- Develop business requirements and provide testing and training support.
- Participate in application maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement activities.
- Ensure quality, reliability, and performance across software releases.
Requirement/Must Have:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience programming in Java/JEE, Oracle, and XML.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Web Services, JSP, Servlets, Spring, Struts, Eclipse IDE, and version control tools.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in application analysis and design, cost analysis, estimating staffing needs, testing, documentation, and implementation.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience providing technical helpdesk support.
Should Have:
- Experience with Visual C++, .NET, CORBA, EJB, and Hibernate.
- Java Certification preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and related productivity tools.
Qualification And Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, Engineering, or related field required.
