Job Description

The OUC Facilities Engineer will be accountable for evaluating the electrical, environmental, and network capacity across emergency 911 centers and remote site locations, ensuring operational continuity. The role involves identifying risks related to outages, maintaining risk mitigation strategies, coordinating maintenance activities, and supporting the ongoing reliability of 911 operations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report electrical power and HVAC alerts, escalating issues impacting RF antenna sites or call floor operations.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repair work with internal teams and vendors.
  • Review and assess change requests that may affect operations, providing expert guidance.
  • Generate and present weekly performance reports for critical infrastructure.
  • Stay current with data center and 911 industry best practices and identify operational gaps.
  • Facilitate failover testing for critical infrastructure and applications.
  • Monitor and report cybersecurity risks and patch management compliance.
  • Manage vendor operations and contracts, ensuring timely, high-quality service delivery.
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and daily facility rounds.
  • Use OUC monitoring tools to analyze power usage, temperature, and humidity levels for optimization.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance, emergency, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all equipment, maintenance activities, and infrastructure changes.
  • Oversee data center projects, ensuring alignment with schedules, budgets, and standards.
  • Identify and implement design improvements for sustainability and scalability.
  • Forecast future infrastructure needs to support evolving 911 operations.
  • Draft and review SOWs and RFPs for data center design and equipment upgrades.
  • Perform facility audits, root cause analysis, and develop remediation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, airflow, and physical security standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, manage resolutions, and establish preventive measures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Facilities Management, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • 6 10 years of relevant experience in data center facilities, critical infrastructure, or 911 systems.
  • Strong expertise in electrical power systems, HVAC, network infrastructure, and vendor management.
  • Familiarity with data center standards, sustainability, and operational best practices.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
