Position: Java Developer

Location: Albany, NY (Onsite)

Duration: 12+ Months (Possible Extension)

Job Description:

Seeking a skilled and collaborative Java Developer to support modernization initiatives for state-level health and human services programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and high-performance Java applications in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • 15+ years total IT experience, including 7+ years as a Java Developer

  • 2+ years in a lead developer role

  • Strong experience with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Hibernate/JPA

  • Hands-on with Microservices, RESTful APIs, Maven/Gradle, JUnit, Mockito

  • Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins)

  • Strong database experience: Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL

  • 2+ years of State or Federal Government project experience

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in Health and Human Services or Integrated Eligibility Systems (IES)

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement complex Java applications

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver scalable solutions

  • Participate in all SDLC stages design, coding, testing, deployment

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; optimize performance

  • Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with standards

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices
